The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, has urged Nigerians irrespective of faith to continue to pray for the sustenance of peace in the country.
Bayero made the call when the Northern Elders Forum, led by Mr Paul Unongo, paid him a courtesy call at his palace in Kano on Thursday.

He stressed the need for Muslims and Christians as well as those who did not believe in any religion to continue to pray to bring an end to the lingering insecurity in the country.
‘’Hardly a day will pass by without getting a story that somebody is killed. This is a very disturbing situation,’’ the emir said.
He urged the forum to come up with possible solutions to end the incessant killing of innocent citizens in the North.

"We are not unaware of the efforts you are making in order to find a lasting solution to the socio-economic and security challenges facing the region.
‘’We urge you to continue in that direction so as to get permanent solution to the problem,’’ Bayero said.

 Earlier, Unongo, a former Minister of Mines and Steel, said the delegation was in Kano to commiserate with the emirate on the  recent bomb attack at Sabon Gari motor-park.
He said the forum would continue to do its best in order to ensure unity and peace in the region as well as to restore its lost glory.

‘’We want to assure you that the forum will continue to give useful suggestions and advice to the government on how to move the North and the entire country forward.
The delegation included  Dan Masanin Kano, Alhaji Maitama Sule, and former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Mustapha Akanbi.

Others were Sheik Ahmed Lemu, Alhaji and Yahaya Kwande as well as a former Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji Sani Zangon-Daura,  a former governor of Borno,   Alhaji Mohammed Goni, and a former Vice- Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University,  Zaria, Prof Ango Abdullahi.
The rest were  former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Abdurrahman Dambazau, former Chief of Air Staff, AVM Al-Amin Daggash and a former Federal Permanent Secretary, Hajiya  Safiya Mohammed.
