UTME Candidates In Kano Stage Protest Over Results
Hundreds of scholars, who sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME) on Monday in Kano staged a peaceful protest against mass failure and withholding of their results.
The scholars raged the building of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria in Kano on motorcycles around noon and carried placards and green leaves to show their anger.
Representative for the candidates, Haruna Maidabam, described the withholding of their results as a premeditated attempt to deny them the opportunities to further their studies.
He said more than 10, 000 students that took the examination in Kano metropolis have yet to get access to their results.
Maidabam said when the outcomes were released last week, they went to the zonal agency of joint Admissions and Matriculation Board in Kano (JAMB) to deplore but were administered to proceed and replicate the thumb printing for verification.
‘’But there is no cause for any verification of thumb print after the examination,’’ Haruna said.
He called on the officials in charge to do something urgently to address their situation.
When the JAMB Zonal Coordinator was contacted, Hajiya Karimatu Abubakar, described the incident as unfortunate and attributed it to “some technical hitches”.
Abubakar said as soon as the problems were rectified, the issue would be resolved. For Advert Placement And Sponsorship Call +2348159638626 or Email Us At info@naijaonpoint.com
